In just two NFL preseason games, Blake Bortles has already made a major statement to the Jacksonville Jaguars organization that he is ready to start Week 1 of the regular season.

More from Jacksonville Jaguars

The former University of Central Florida quarterback was drafted No. 3 overall in this year’s NFL draft. Going into camp, Bortles was in competition with veteran quarterback Chad Henne, and it truly has been a battle thus far.

After an electric NFL debut last week, Bortles returned to the field last night when the Jaguars traveled to Chicago to take on the Bears. In another stellar outing, Bortles went 11-of-17 on the night with 160 yards.

Twitter was erupting with Bortles mania as fans clamored to see more of the rookie quarterback.

After the game, Bortles kept things in perspective when asked about his performances thus far (Courtesy of Jaguars):

"They’ve been two decent outings. There is good things to learn from it and there is bad things to learn from. That is what I am going to continue to do.Next week I will try and raise the bar to be better."

Although Bortles looked great once again, he hardly outplayed the incumbent quarterback Chad Henne.

Starting the game, Henne wound up going 12 for 17 with 130 yards and a touchdown.

Although the Jacksonville fans will likely want to see more of Bortles down the stretch, it might take a few losses before Bortles is thrown into the fire of the NFL regular season. If and when he is, it looks as if he is more than ready.
