LeBron James stole the summer. Chandler Parsons, Lance Stephenson, and Pau Gasol made some splashes in the NBA free agency pool. We all know the NBA is a star’s league. The stars get the ratings, the headlines, and all the attention.

Every year, NBA writers and fans everywhere skim the surface, only taking the league’s best players into consideration when analyzing what’s to come. And, every season, without fail, the media and fans alike are surprised when an under-the-radar offseason signing takes a team to a whole new level.

Last season, Mo Williams and Robin Lopez helped stabilize a bad Blazers’ team, and the Blazers won 21 more games than they did in 2012-13.

In 2012-13, Nate Robinson put on a show all season while filling in for an injured Derrick Rose, capped off by a 34-point performance in triple overtime to beat the Brooklyn Nets in Game 4 of the first round of the playoffs.
