Eagles running back Henry Josey accounted for 83 yards from scrimmage. He’s the latest so-you’re-saying-there’s-a-chance story coming out of NFL preseason.

More from NFL

With starters LeSean McCoy and Darren Sproles resting in the second half, Josey had the chance to run free.

“It was good and I felt great,” Josey said, via CSN Philly. “We have been practicing like this all week like that just to get prepared for this game. I have two great guys in front of me that have been pushing me all week. LeSean and Darren Sproles are two great leaders who really got me ready for this week and they make sure you have fun.

“You need to keep having fun because that is what makes the game seem easier.”

It’s hard not to have fun when you’re dominating in an NFL game. Even after his strong outing, however, Josey is still a longshot for a job with the Eagles. Backups Chris Polk, Matthew Tucker and David Fluellen were injured, and when they return, he’ll sit in the way back of the Eagles’ proverbial running back van.

He may be at the bottom of the barrel, but Josey was very productive at Missouri. His stats were hampered by an ACL that kept him out of one and a half seasons, but he still managed nearly 3,000 yards and 30 touchdowns. That sort of productivity scored him a ticket to Eagles training camp.

“It was something that wasn’t supposed to be possible for me, that I would get back out there,” he said. “I am just happy to be able to do it again. I am just thankful and I keep being thankful. I know how blessed I am.”
