With the real NFL season right around the corner, the NFL has given sports fans another reason to make the jump and purchase an Apple TV for their homes.

More from NFL

The NFL announced on Wednesday that it’s new NFL Now service will be launching on the streaming device just in time for the start of the 2014 regular season.

NFL Now allows users to access free content, including archived video highlights, original shows, classic NFL Films, press conferences and more. Those who choose to upgrade to the premium NFL Now service for $1.99 per month will also receive instant in-game highlights.

The addition of the NFL to Apple TV now gives the device all of the four major sports leagues — NFL, NBA, NHL and MLB — in addition to Major League Soccer and ESPN.

Speaking of ESPN, the company recently updated its WatchESPN Apple TV app in order to offer content from the Longhorn Network as well as the brand new SEC Network.

Mike’s Musings: This is a nice addition to the Apple TV lineup. That being said, I feel that those who want an Apple TV likely already own one. I don’t see this addition spiking sales in a major way.
