Morgan Moses certainly has the size to be a right tackle in the NFL, measuring in at 6-6 and 318 pounds, but is the rookie third-rounder actually ready to start at the pro level?

That’s what Jay Gruden and the Redskins want to find out. To help them make a determination, they will let Moses start at right tackle for the final two preseason games.

Gruden talked about Moses’ progress in camp since his early struggles (via csnwashington.com):

"“He’s doing better,” Redskins coach Jay Gruden said of the rookie tackle. Gruden acknowledged that staying low in his blocks was a problem for Moses, but that his play is improving.“That was one of his issues. He’s doing a much better job. He hasn’t really gotten beat in the preseason games yet.”"

Gruden added:

"“I think he has enough athleticism to be a very, very good tackle in this league for a long time, it’s just a matter of getting him comfortable,” Gruden said. “He’s going to be fine because he’s a long, big-bodied kid and he works very hard at it.”"

If Moses shows up in the final to preseason games, he could knock Tyler Polumbus out of the starting right tackle spot, which could lead to a chain reaction that causes Tom Compton to lose his job as a backup.

First thing’s first for Moses: he has to show Jay Gruden and the Redskins staff that he can handle NFL pass rushers.
