Who says lightning doesn’t strike twice?

Phil Mickelson, in the second round of The Barclays on Friday, sliced his tee shot on the 5th hole into the hospitality tent, hitting a good shot off the Astroturf carpeting but settling for a bogey on the par-4.

On Saturday, Mickelson did it again:

However, the results were better this time around—he made par on the hole.

The folks at Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, N.J., were on the ball quickly, making sure the moment was saved for posterity … or moments, in this case.

Mickelson made the cut, barely, after an even-par 71 on Thursday and a 1-over 72 on Friday. But he’s fallen nearly to the back of the field on Saturday after a 4-over 75. At 5-over for the tournament, he is one shot ahead of last-place Martin Flores and will likely miss the 54-hole cut on Saturday.

According to the Associated Press, it’s just the second time in the FedEx Cup playoffs there has been a 54-hole cut under the PGA Tour’s policy of making a second cut if there are more than 78 players in the field after the first cut.

There were 79 players who survived Friday’s cut. Saturday’s cut will include the low 70 scores, plus ties.

Co-leaders Cameron Tringale and Adam Scott (both at 8-under) were scheduled to tee off at 1:55 p.m. Eastern in The Barclays, the first event of the PGA Tour’s FedEx Cup playoffs.

Scott is the defending champion of the event, which was held last year at Liberty National in Jersey City, N.J.
