One of the most difficult portions of the NFL season is roster cuts. Coaches are forced to cut ties with players they have worked with over the past several  months, grown fond of, and created relationships with. Teammates lose out on friends, playmakers, and athletes as well during roster cuts.

More from New York Jets

Ultimately, every team in the NFL is forced to go through this process as the NFL sets deadlines for where the roster must be at certain times in the offseason. The first roster limit is set at 75 players, and the deadline to make the cuts is this Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET.

The New York Jets did not waste any time holding on to any additional players for a few more days as the team announced this morning that they have cut six players.

Among those who were cut was former Oakland Raiders wide receiver and special teams threat Jacoby Ford, as well as former New England second-round pick, cornerback Ras-I Dowling.

Ford was brought into the team this offseason to field kick-offs, but apparently he did not perform up to snuff during training camp and the offseason.

Here is the full list of players that were cut by the Jets today:

  • Jacoby Ford- Wide Receiver
  • Ras-I Dowling- Cornerback
  • Michael Campbell-
  • Colin Anderson- Tight End
  • Chad Young- Full Back
  • Anthony Grady- Defensive End

The six released players come only a day after the Jets released seven players. The next deadline for roster cuts is the final cutdown to 53 players which must be done by next Saturday.
