The Atlanta Hawks had grand plans for the summer, hoping to add another all-star type player to their core of big man Paul Millsap, point guard Jeff Teague, swingman Kyle Korver and a returning Al Horford. Although they signed a pair of wings in Thabo Sefolosha and Kent Bazemore, it hasn’t worked out exactly the way they’d hoped.

More from Atlanta Hawks

Chuck Myron of Hoops Rumors believes the Hawks are keeping an eye on both Phoenix Suns’ guard Eric Bledsoe and Detroit Pistons’ big man Greg Monroe, who are restricted free agents that remain on the market.

"I continue to believe they’re keeping a close eye on the Bledsoe and Monroe situations, though they haven’t been linked to Monroe in a while and haven’t been linked to Bledsoe at all. It’s been surprising to see free agents of note sort of pass the Hawks by, given what’s there to surround them. At this point it seems the most likely scenario is they start the season with what they have and see if they can cook up a move around the deadline, but don’t rule out a significant transaction before that."

Pulling off a trade for either player would obviously be difficult because the Hawks likely can’t give either the Pistons or the Suns the type of return they desire.

Bledsoe averaged 17.7 points, 5.5 assists, 4.7 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game while shooting 47.7% from the field, 35.7% from beyond the arc and 77.2% from the free throw line last season. Monroe put up 15.2 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.1 steals per game while shooting 49.7% from the field and 65.7% from the free throw line last season.
