Washington Redskins safety Brandon Meriweather is known for his disregard for opponents and his own health as he consistently delivers illegal hits to opponents.

On Monday afternoon, that caught up to Meriweather once again as the NFL announced he would be suspended for the first six games of the 2014-15 NFL regular season for violating the leagues player safety rules.

It was Meriweather’s sixth offense.

Meriweather violated the rules with an illegal hit on Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Torrey Smith.

The two regular season games that the Washington Redskins will take the field without Meriweather for are a Sept. 7 match up against the Houston Texans on the road and a home meeting with the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sept. 14.

Meriweather will return on Sept. 21 against the Philadelphia Eagles on the road.
