With Ludogorets hosting the second leg, they were hoping to overturn that scoreline to advance to the group stage of the Champions League tournament.

For most of the game it looked like that score line was going to hold and Steaua Bucuresti was going to advance to the group stage. Then Farias Wanderson showed up in the 89th minute to make things interesting. That 1-0 goal tied the aggregate score line up and with no away goals giving either team the edge, things were sent into extra time to determine a winner.

The first period of extra time came and went without a score to break the draw.

To make things interesting, Ludogorets Razgrad goal keeper Vladislav Stoyanov got sent off with a red card at the end of extra time. At that point in the game, Ludogorets had already used all three substitutes and couldn’t sub a goal keeper on for final moments of the game and the impending the penalty shoot out. They decided to move center back Cosmin Moţi into the goal, who punched away a corner before heading towards the penalty shoot out.

To make things even more interesting, Moţi lined up to take the first penalty kick and scored. Bucuresti scored their first penalty kick as well.

Bucuresti goal keeper Giedrius Arlauskis made a save in the second kick to put the pressure on Moţi. But Moţi rose to the occasion and made a save to keep Ludogorets in it.

Uilson Junior Caicara scored in the fourth kick to move Ludogorets ahead of Bucuresti. Bucuresti’s Adrian Poparadu scored against Moţi and tie the game up.

In the fifth kick, Marcelo Nascimento Marcelinho scored for Ludogorets to take the pressure off of Moţi. Unfortunately for Ludogorets, Fernando Varela scored against Moţi to keep the penalty shoot out tied.

Ludogorets’ Svetoslav Dyakov scored in the sixth kick to give Moţi another chance to be a hero. Bucuresti’s Andrei Prepelita scored to keep things tied still.

Fabio Espinho scored to once again help out Moţi and of course his club Ludogorets. Moţi then saved the seventh attempt in the penalty shoot out to win the game and match up and advance to the group stage.
