The Florida Gators are looking to rebound from a 4-8 season in 2013. They’ll get their first chance to right the ship on Saturday night when they host the Idaho Vandals. Unfortunately, they have already started out on the wrong foot. Wide receiver Demarcus Robinson and defensive lineman Darious Cummings and Jay-nard Bostwick have been suspended for a violation of team rules and won’t play against the Vandals.

Edgar Thompson of The Orlando Sentinel has the scoop.

"UF sophomore Demarcus Robinson is among three players suspended for Saturday night’s season opener against Idaho, forcing the promising Gators’ receiver to miss his third straight game.Robinson, who is expected to be a key contributor on offense in 2014, will sit out against Idaho due to a “university sanction,” according to the school’s Web site, Gatorzone. Coach Will Muschamp also suspended Robinson for the final two games of a disappointing freshman season during which he caught just five passes in seven appearances.Muschamp also suspended defensive tackles Darious Cummings and Jay-nard Bostwick will sit out the Idaho for violating team rules."

Robinson had a disappointing freshman season, catching just five passe for 23 yards, but is expected to be a major contributor for the Gators this season. Cummings is a starting defensive lineman while Bostwick is expected to provide depth and see a lot of playing time as part of the two-deep this season. The suspensions shouldn’t hurt the Gators much against the Vandals, but it still is disappointing to see.
