Healthy Rob Gronkowski means a dominant Patriots offense

The Patriots’ offense is like the death star — fully operational. Rob Gronkowski has said that he’s going to play week 1. What’s more, the entire team had perfect attendance on Monday. Things are falling into place perfect. It’s almost as if head coach Bill Belichick planned it this way.

More from New England Patriots

With Aaron Dobson getting some preseason time and the oft-injured Danny Amendola completely healthy, the Patriots look like their offense is primed to do some damage. They are deep as ever. NESN Patriots’ reporter Doug Kyed is sure this means that they will be back to their dominant ways.

While some see the running back position as uncertain, it’s the opposite. Stevan Ridley is a very capable starter — it’s just that he’s standing on thin ice in terms of fumbling. Even if he fumbles away his starting role, there are an ample number of players ready and capable of filling in for him. Shane Vereen, James White and Brandon Bolden are itching for more touches.

The Patriots are so deep at wide receiver they had to waive a 2013 NFL Draft fourth round selection in Josh Boyce. He’s now on their practice roster. It’s a testament to their talented group of wide receivers. They’ve also come a long way from the beginning of last year. And the passing offense will pick up from the end of last year, when they were the 10th best passing team in the league. They’re only going to be better than that.

Then there’s Gronk. He’s not exactly old reliable. He just so good when he’s on the field. If he isn’t, then newly acquired tight end Tim Wright will have to sink or swim.

On the offensive line, things need to fall into place gracefully after Logan Mankins’ departure. The trade was Belichick’s unspoken faith in his depth at the position. He shouldn’t have a problem reallocating talent so that the line doesn’t skip a beat.

Then there’s Tom Brady, future Hall of Famer. The Patriots are looking good.
