The Philadelphia Eagles thought they had an easy start to the season ahead of them, with Nick Foles looking to build on a fantastic 2013 season against the woeful Jacksonville Jaguars. Instead, Foles gave the ball away three times in a brutal first half that saw the team trail 17-0 to the Jags.

The team rattled off 34 straight second-half points to win, and Foles credited poise throughout the roster for hanging on and getting the W.

“You just have to keep your composure,” Foles said per CSN Philly. “You can’t get frustrated. I mean, it’s definitely frustrating for a second, but then you have to keep your cool. Because your teammates are looking to you in those situations.”

Foles finished the game with 322 passing yards and two passing TDs after surrendering one interception and two fumbles in the first half to the Jaguars. He hit tight end Zach Ertz for a 25-yard touchdown in the third quarter to make the score 17-14, then found Jeremy Maclin on a long bomb that saw Maclin get about as open as any NFL receiver will get this year. That touchdown put the team up for good.

After the game,Foles credited small adjustments made to beat the Jaguars defense. “I just made mistakes,”Foles said. “I really just have to get the ball out a little faster. It’s as simple as that. It’s on me.”
