The Detroit Pistons were involved all summer long in trying to get Greg Monroe back on the team with a qualifying offer and that was only just recently resolved. But there are other problems that Monroe is dealing with other than not getting paid what he wants as he ran afoul of the law this spring.

More from Detroit Pistons

Back in April, Monroe was arrested for DUI and while he was being booked, he did more than a few interesting things. Aside from urinating on himself, Monroe told the arresting officers if they really knew who they were booking.

According to MLive.com, Greg Monroe made sure to mention to the arresting officers who were booking him that he played for the Pistons and that he’d prefer if they didn’t tell anyone he was in trouble.

"“I’m just trying not to be in the newspaper,” Monroe is heard saying to the officers during his transport to jail.“I play for the Pistons,” Monroe said.“You play for the Detroit Pistons,” asks one of the officers in the vehicle. “Unless you told people that are going to tell people, we don’t tell people,” an officer is heard saying."

This doesn’t seem to be an attempt by Monroe to get out of a ticket by saying who he is but it’s not a good look that he even mentioned it unprompted. All of this will eventually blow over but the embarrassment factor for Monroe will be settling in for a very long time.
