The New Orleans Saints came into the 2014 NFL season with high expectations from the team itself, it’s rabid fanbase, and a number of high profile media members. Unfortunately for them, the Saints have stumbled out of the gate and are 0-2 going into Week 3.

While All-Pro quarterback Drew Brees noted that the team is just one or two plays away from being 2-0, the facts are that the team has faltered late and given up what should have been victories. In their losses to the Browns and Falcons, the Saints have given up last second drives that caused their team to lose by a combined 5 points.

Pro Bowl tight end Jimmy Graham was asked about the tough losses after the game yesterday, and noted that the team has simply been unable to close out games thus far.

“The NFL is a tough league to get a win in,” Graham told Saints media candidly after the 26-24 loss to the Cleveland Browns. “It doesn’t matter who you play or where you play them, you’ve got to be able to finish games. We’ve always been able to finish games, but unfortunately these last two weeks, we haven’t done that. Even offensively, we didn’t start well. The first quarter was pretty awful for the offense. We put ourselves in a hole, fought back, but couldn’t finish it.”

Graham and the rest of the Saints will have a chance to right the ship this Sunday when they host the Minnesota Vikings. If they can not “finish the game” as Graham purports, they could be looking at a shocking 0-3 start to the season.
