New York Jets’ quarterback Michael Vick has done a lot of work to rebuild his image. Goodness knows that was no easy task after he spent time in prison for his involvement in a dog fighting ring.

At some point Vick earned forgiveness from many people. Now he has reached a point where he is regarded as a player with a certain measure of veteran wisdom to offer on important topics to the league.

One area where he offers the opposite of wisdom, however, is Vick’s opinions of current NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. Contrary to the opinion of any person who is not an NFL owner, Vick told Rich Cimini of ESPN.com that Goodell is “doing a great job.”

Seriously. He said that. Look for yourself:

"“You have to give the man a chance, you have to him a chance, you have to give everybody a chance to get it right,” said Vick, who believes Goodell is “doing a great job.”“I think some situations are more complicated than others,” Vick said. “You’re not going to get it right all the time or the first time. These situations that are arising are situations that we’ve never dealt with before in the NFL — from a PR standpoint, just from a situation standpoint.“It’s kind of new to everybody. That’s why we’re talking about it right now. It has to be dealt with. Nobody is perfect. Nobody is going to make the correct decisions right there and then on the spot when faced with all forms of adversity.”"

I get what Vick is trying to do here, but the answer is no. He is wrong. There is no nuance and no gray area here: Roger Goodell is doing a flat out terrible job, and he’s gotta go.
