After a poor second half against the Miami Dolphins in Week 1 that cost them the game, the Patriots rebounded with a stellar outing against the inept Minnesota Vikings in Week 2, defeating them 30-7.
Although both games were drastically different, one thing that stood true for the Patriots was the fact that they barely got wide receiver Danny Amendola involved at all. In the win over the Vikings last week, Amendola was only targeted once by Tom Brady.
Against the Dolphins a week earlier, Amendola only tallied 5 targets, and finished the game with three receptions for a meager 16 yards.
Regardless of his lack of action, Amendola seems unfazed as long as the Patriots continue to win.
“I’m not really worried about that. I’m just worried about doing my job each week,” Amendola told the Boston Herald when asked about his lack of targets. “I’m focused on the Raiders and that’s all I’m really worried about right now.”
With Brady utilizing Julian Edelman, Kenbrell Thompkins, and of course Rob Gronkowski, there is only so many targets that could be given to Amendola in the first place. With that being said, if Amendola wants a piece of the pie, he needs to prove to Brady and the Patriots that he can make plays.
With the Raiders coming into town with a weak defense, Amedola’s time to shine is right now.
