The Los Angeles Lakers are looking to acquire other stars while many believe the Boston Celtics are looking to trade point guard Rajon Rondo (although both Rondo and the Celtics have continued to deny such reports).

More from Boston Celtics

Nate Duncan of Basketball Insiders doesn’t believe the Lakers have the assets to acquire Rondo.

"MIA doesn’t have much Boston would be interested in, and has trouble trading picks due to the fact they now owe a protected first-rounder to PHI. The Lakers will have space next summer to sign him and also have trouble trading draft picks due to owing their pick to PHX and a future pick to ORL."

Even if the Lakers were full of assets, trading Rondo to their arch rival doesn’t seem very likely for the Celtics anyway.

Last season, Rondo averaged 11.7 points, 9.8 assists, 5.5 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 40.3% from the field, 28.9% from beyond the arc and 62.7% from the free throw line in his return from an ACL injury. Rondo was originally selected by the Celtics with the 21st-overall pick in the 2006 NBA Draft. Rondo has averaged 11.1 points, 8.4 assists, 4.6 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game while shooting 47.5% from the floor, 25.2% from three and 62.1% from the free throw line in his eight-year NBA career.
