The Philadelphia Eagles were fraudulent from the beginning

I can’t lie. I was expecting to write this story and completely rail on the Philadelphia Eagles because I thought they were so overrated.

The season for the Eagles started against bad competition and they played terribly but yet every week they ended up finding a way to win and it got me so agitated. Not because I don’t like their team, but because of the cocky and annoying fan base that stands behind the Eagles.

Eagles fans who think their team is the best franchise the NFL has ever seen, are the worst. So every Sunday for the last three weeks I hated seeing the Eagles put up more points than their opponent because that meant on Monday I was going to hear “We’re 3-0. That Super Bowl is looking closer and closer. Eagles doing it this year, we are looking tough.”

It’s not like I don’t enjoy the optimism. It’s when their fan base seems to forget a lot of glaring facts in their wins. I am so thankful the San Francisco 49ers humbled the Eagles, defeating them 26-21. The 49ers scored 16 unanswered points and stormed back to win this game.

Which brings me to why I knew the Eagles were a fraudulent team from the beginning of the year.

Their defense.

To say the Eagles defense is bad is an understatement. The Eagles defense is terrible this season and their stats do not lie. Entering into week four, the Eagles were third to last in opponents passing yards per game, were 24th out of 32 in total yards allowed, 26th in yards allowed per game, and were tied for 25th in points per game.

That defense is not reliable and every game the Eagles have won, they had to do it while trailing by 10 or more points.

So beginning that San Francisco game, I can’t even lie I was so hyped early when I saw the Eagles take the field in Santa Clara because I knew they 49ers would find a way to win this game.

As bad as the 49ers started the game, I saw Colin Kaepernick score off of a video game throw from across his body on the opposite side of the football field, then I knew the 49ers were going to win this game.

As terrible as the Eagles defense has been most of the season this loss was because of the offense.

Entering halftime the score was 21-13 with the Eagles winning and I was already becoming salty and getting ready to endure the boastful words from the Eagles fans. Then it happened, and I saw Kaepernick finally wake up from his slumber. He threw a beautiful strike to Stevie Johnson that completely shifted the momentum of the game.

On offense when the Eagles had the football they could not answer. The Eagles starting quarterback Nick Foles looked off most of the game (21/43 for 195 yards and two interceptions), while running back LeSean McCoy has left his game in Pittsburgh because he was a non factor. 10 carries for 17 yards? Really? He has had a terrible start to the year.

But as the game started to come to a complete end, I came to the realization that this team is not overrated. A lot of people including myself do not have the Eagles even competing for a Super Bowl. I don’t even have them winning the NFC East, the Dallas Cowboys have it this year.

Nevertheless, the Eagles played the game in San Francisco with a lot of heart. Though they have faced a lot of injuries on their offensive line, had difficulties in their running game, and have a terrible defense, they manage to never quit and stay competitive. The end result for their troubles is a good 3-1 record.

How could I ever hate a team like that?

What I will say is, since I am 200 percent sure that Eagles fans will still start to talk about their Eagles in a glowing light, I want the Eagles to suffer losses this season to the Rams, Giants, Cardinals, Texans, Panthers, Packers, Titans, Seahawks and Redskins just for good measure.

But I bet even then Eagles fans will still talk. As long as they know that their team was never winning the Super Bowl this year, I’m good.
