New Detroit Pistons’ head coach and president Stan Van Gundy is impressed by Andrew Drummond’s improved offense.

Detroit Pistons’ head coach Stan Van Gundy has made feeding center Andre Drummond the ball a priority in training camp. Van Gundy said Drummond’s improvement on offense has already been “tremendous.”

Drummond has already established himself as a dominant defensive player and a standout rebounder, but his offensive game leaves a lot to be desired. Van Gundy has been impressed with the strides Drummond’s post game have already taken:

“[Drummond is] taking his time, he’s patient, he’s making good, strong moves,” Van Gundy told NBA.com. “I think that he’s been terrific down there. With him getting postups in live situations on a regular basis, I think he’ll just continue to get better and better.”

In addition to working on his foul shooting, Drummond has also been working on a “baby hook shot” and putting the ball on the floor after a rebound before trying to put the shot up.

Drummond impressed in the FIBA World Cup this summer with Team USA and the center is only 21-years old, with time to develop. If he develops sooner rather than later, the Pistons could be a far scarier team in the Eastern Conference, and could potentially contend for a playoff spot.
