Brandon Browner activated by Patriots
The New England Patriots are about to receive a major boost to their defensive secondary, as they have activated cornerback Brandon Browner off of the suspension list. They had until 4 PM today to activate him, and he will be a major upgrade for them. Browner is a former member of the Seattle Seahawks’ “Legion of Boom” and will join Darrelle Revis in helping the Patriots’ defense take a step forward.

Browner is coming off of a season in which he only played eight games with the Seahawks, and recorded 19 tackles and one interception. He’s a playmaker in the secondary and is also a big hitter when he gets the chance. Obviously the Patriots are happy to have him back, and they are even happier to have him going up against the division rival Buffalo Bills on Sunday.
New England is also getting quite a bit of size at the cornerback position, with Browner coming in at 6’4″ and 221 pounds. Needless to say, the Patriots’ secondary is going to receive a huge boost, and it is coming at a very good time.
It will be very intriguing to see what type of impact Browner has on the Patriots’ defense when he does see the field. There is a chance that the Patriots don’t allow him to play this coming week, but it is more likely that he will be on the field and in a fairly substantial role against the Bills in Kyle Orton’s second start. He will bring a lot of physicality to the defensive backfield, and will serve the role of enforcer on the defense.
Through his three-year NFL career, he has intercepted 10 passes to go along with 104 tackles and three forced fumbles. Browner was named to the 2011 Pro Bowl team after a big season with the Seahawks, and is still very much in the prime of his career. New England practically acquired an above average cornerback to add onto their third-best pass defense in the NFL.
Expect to see Browner step in and make a difference on Sunday against Buffalo, and as the season continues to move forward.
