At 7 feet tall and 265 pounds Brook Lopez may be the biggest comic geek out there.

Yes, Brook Lopez of the Brooklyn Nets loves comic books. Lopez is known as being a goofball and Lopez isn’t afraid to admit that he spends a good amount of his money on comic books.

Although Lopez wouldn’t specify the most amount of money that he’s ever spent on a comic book, he did say that he has spent over $1,000 on a comic book before. Lopez told reporters that he’s always been a DC guy but also he likes Marvel. It was fairly apparent when listening to Lopez talk about comic’s that he truly does know his stuff. Lopez also told a funny story about how him and his brother (who also happens to be in the NBA) Robin Lopez would always steal comic books from their older brothers.

Brook Lopez made the All Star team in 2013 and looked primed to repeat that success last season before he went down with another foot injury. The style that Lopez plays with on the court is unorthodox and his life style off of the court is unusual for an NBA player, but he must be doing something right. Reading comic books is certainly better than getting in trouble.

Lopez averages 18 points per game and 7.3 rebounds per game for his career, but he has never won a playoff series. Last season, the Nets made it to the second round with Lopez on the sideline’s and the goal for the Nets this season under new coach Lionel Hollins is to have Lopez healthy come playoff time and to make a run deep into the playoffs.
