There was a lot of change for the New York Knicks in the offseason.

With Phil Jackson now the team’s president and Derek Fisher no the team’s head coach, the New York Knicks will run the famed triangle offense. The New York Knicks re-signed Carmelo Anthony in the offseason and many believe he, along with his teammates, will thrive in the triangle. However, it could take some time.

Moke Hamilton of Basketball Insiders doesn’t believe the New York Knicks will pick things up until January.

"The entire team is learning to play a new offensive system that requires you to think and react instead of simply following directives and looking for a release point. The Knicks won’t be a fluid functioning triangle unit until January, at the earliest, I think. Derek Fisher had the Summer League team looking good in a few triangle sets in Las Vegas, but they ran elementary sets and only installed maybe four different sets, from what I saw…It’s going to take time, but in the long run, I think Carmelo is made for it and there are far worse things than having a proven offensive system that is catering to your best player."

The New York Knicks appear to have a plan in place with stability at the top. They should have cap space to to pursue free agents in the future. Of course, the fans will have to be patient and for New York fans, that isn’t easy.
