Boston Bruins could play David Krejci against Colorado Avalanche on Monday night

According to NBC Pro Hockey Talk, the Boston Bruins could see centerman David Krejci out on the ice against the Colorado Avalanche Monday night. The alternate captain has been out with an undisclosed injury since October 4th.

The Bruins, who finished off the previous season first in the league, have struggled out of the gate over the past three games. Adding Krejci to the lineup could remedy this, as top line veteran Milan Lucic has been short a consistent teammate either in center or on the right wing. He has even played top-six minutes with Matt Fraser and Ryan Spooner, both of whom are starting their first full seasons with the franchise.

Should Krejci start in the game, which head coach Claude Julien has expressed hope will happen, he could easily play on the top line with Lucic and recently-recalled winger Seth Griffith; the trio skated together in practice Sunday morning.

While this is good news for the Bruins, hearing that the team’s top centerman could return is potentially disastrous for the Avalanche, who head into Monday’s game 0-2-0 with a -8 goal differential. Last year’s Central Division champs have yet to score a single goal in the 2014-2015 season, as the Minnesota Wild shut the Avalanche out both on opening night and Saturday night.
