Steven Stamkos scores hat trick against Montreal Canadiens, bringing score to 4-1
I’ve already fangirled all over Steven Stamkos tonight, and his incredible hands and scoring and skating and passing… okay, stopping now.
Stamkos records his first hat trick of the 2014-2015 season in possibly the most important game of the season to date, as he leads the Tampa Bay Lightning to a 4-1 lead in the second period of the game against Montreal Monday night.

The Montreal Canadiens were heading into the game in clear first across the league as the only team with a perfect 3-0-0 record. They had thus far netted wins against the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Washington Capitals, and the Philadelphia Flyers. Had they won this game as well (which they still could, as the game’s third period has yet to begin), they would advance to a 4-0-0 record less than a single week into the season.
Steven Stamkos is heading into his first full season since breaking his leg 37 games into the 2013-2014 season. He had scored 25 goals in the first part of last season and was on pace to be one of the top scorers in the league, so this hat trick could be nothing more than a preview of what’s to come for the league vs Stamkos.
