Boston Celtics guard Rajon Rondo has been the subject of trade rumors since he got into the NBA it seems, but those may all end this season.

It seems that Boston Celtics star Rajon Rondo has always been destined for a trade, but one just hasn’t come along yet. he’s the Pau Gasol of the East — always being rumored to be close to a trade but never actually getting moved.

That could all change this season as Rondo’s price that the Celtics ask for him in a deal could be so high no one wants him or is willing to deal.

According to Grantland’s Zach Lowe, the Boston Celtics will more than likely set an astronomically high price for Rajon Rondo in a trade.

"Boston has gauged the market for both over the last year or so, and its expected price for Rondo has been sky-high, per several league sources. That price will drop as Rondo’s deal ticks toward expiration, but the market for him is thin. Point guard is stacked leaguewide, and Rondo is 28, coming off ACL surgery, and seeking a max contract as he approaches free agency. A few suitors could wait to chase him in the offseason instead of dealing assets now and risking that Rondo walks in July."

Rondo’s broken hand also doesn’t help his trade value, but that’s something that is on the lower end of the list of things that hurt him. The Celtics likely don’t want to trade Rondo and won’t, as this asking price being too high thing smacks of the Celtics just making up excuses why they can’t make a trade when all they need to do is say they don’t want to.
