Boston Bruins coach Doug Houda got hit in the head with the puck, and now he needs stitches.

Nothing like a swift slap to the head with a hockey puck, eh?

During the Boston BruinsDetroit Red Wings game Wednesday night, which was televised on NBCSN, Bruins coach Doug Houda got smacked in the head with a loose puck. He got hit so hard that, understandably, he needed stitches- check it out.

Nothing about that seems enjoyable. Have you ever been hit in the head with a puck? I can confidently say that I haven’t, save the numerous times I’ve been smacked through my mask. With Zdeno Chara in the game, too, I’m already cringing for him. I’m so sorry, Houda.

This isn’t the first time someone has had to leave the game due to a bloody injury- hockey’s not exactly the most delicate, harmless game. It’s definitely one of the more unique injuries, though, at least in terms of the person leaving with the team’s trainers.

I’m doing a standing ovation from my couch, though, at the fact that Houda left the game, got his noggin’ all sewn up, and then re-joined the game. Without a helmet. Just him, his extremely bald dome, and his freshly done sutures.

The Bruins had better win this game, is all I’ve got to say.
