Oklahoma State Cowboys vs TCU Horned Frogs

Daxx Garman, Mike Gundy and the 15th ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys travel to Amon G. Carter Stadium this weekend for a showdown with Trevone Boykin, Gary Patterson, and the 12th ranked TCU Horned Frogs. It should be a fascinating Big 12 showdown in Fort Worth.

Location: Fort Worth, TX
Stadium: Amon G. Carter Stadium

Keys to Victory

In a game that promises to feature a lot of offense and a decided lack of defense, it is hard to look much further than the health of TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin as the story of this match-up. No, Boykin did not have surgery on his non-throwing wrist this week, but he does still have some sort of injury. Will that affect Boykin and the Horned Frogs’ offense in any noticeable way? There was certainly no shortage of offense in their extraordinary 61-58 loss to Baylor last week.

As for Oklahoma State, they have their own high-octane offense led by Daxx Garman at quarterback. That said, it was not exactly smooth sailing as they wiggled off the hook with a 27-20 win over the Kansas Jayhawks last week. They will need a more complete effort than that if they are going to find a way to beat TCU on the road.

Betting Odds

Point spread: Horned Frogs -10
Moneyline:  Horned Frogs -400, Cowboys +330
Over/Under: 62

Prediction

I would love to be in the room for some of these conversations when odds-makers set these over/under numbers. Somebody must at least ask the question: “Can we really set this over/under too high? Is there any number where people will take the under?” I have to believe that is the conversation that took place about this game.

The Horned Frogs are in a somewhat precarious position because of the weird situation with Boykin’s wrist, but coming off a heartbreaking loss to Baylor, they will bounce back in another thrilling game at home against the Cowboys.

Final Score: Horned Frogs 41, Cowboys 38
