Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer plays footsie with the Oakland Raiders linebacker Khalil Mack

The fourth quarter of a NFL football game is a great time for your quarterback to use his feet to help his team win.  However, it really won’t do anyone any good if said quarterback is on his rear and is using his feet to play footsie with the opposing team, albeit inadvertently.

In fourth quarter of today’s Arizona Cardinals – Oakland Raiders game, quarterback Carson Palmer could not get up after a play because his shoe got tied up with Khalil Mack.  They had to employ the help of couple of the Cards players to untie them.

What I would like to know is how you end up in such a predicament?  I’ve never seen such a thing happen before, at least not in an NFL game.  Luckily no participants of this unauthorized activity was injured.

I remember seeing the incident happen live and thinking to myself how the feet appeared to be twisted together as well as tied up. Someone easily could have twisted an ankle there.

It even looked like at one point that the players who were helping them out were going to pull off Palmer’s shoe. The one problem with that?  His shoe was taped to his ankle.  That would have been a task.

Somehow they got the players free from each other.  The Cardinals ended up defeating the Raiders 24-13 behind Palmer’s 22-31- for 253 yards and two touchdown passes.  Palmer’s and Mack’s shoes could not be reached for comment.
