While many thought that the College Football Playoff format would water down the regular season, that has not been the case. Week in and week out things have gotten more and more interesting, and the Coaches Poll for Week 9 reflects that.
To get things started on Saturday, the Baylor Bears were knocked from the ranks of the unbeaten when they were defeated by the West Virginia Mountaineers in Morgantown. Many saw this coming, especially with the way the Bears’ defense has played as of late, and the Mountaineers were the ones to take advantage.
In the afternoon, the Alabama Crimson Tide made a serious statement when they just flat out obliterated the Texas A&M Aggies. The final score was 59-0, but you felt as if Alabama could have put 90 on the scoreboard if they wanted to. Those that thought the dynasty was dead might want to think again.
Finally, in night action, the game between the No. 2 Florida State Seminoles and No. 5 Notre Dame Fighting Irish did not disappoint. In the end, though, it was the Seminoles that walked away with the 31-27 win.
So how does the Coaches Poll look after Week 8 and heading into Week 9? Well, here is a look at the new Top 10:
