Jason Zucker gets a roundhouse kick to the face during Minnesota’s game against Los Angeles Kings

So, I have a confession to make. I’ve always had a bit of a crush on Jason Zucker, who is underrated and underappreciated in the league for someone with such a gorgeous smile. He’s this cute Cali Boy who looks like he’s the love child of Anze Kopitar and Zac Efron, which strangely kind of works. Trust me on it.

He might not still look as gorgeous after the Wild‘s 2-1 loss to the Los Angeles Kings today, though, since he got roundhouse kicked in the mouth by Los Angeles left winger Kyle Clifford.

Just look at that kick.

It’s impressive, mostly because I’ve never seen anyone kick up that high who isn’t trying to do an aerial cartwheel as a member of the New York ballet. Maybe Clifford is actually trying to audition for Cirque du Soleil via YouTube sensation? Not sure how he did that.

The kick still makes me cringe, though, because I’m pretty sure it knocked quite a few teeth loose. I mean, Zucker just got a razor blade to the mouth, basically, only attached to a very strong, fast-moving foot.

Also, I’m kinda pissed that this resulted in the Kings overthrowing Finnesota. I really want to see them be this year’s dark horse Stanley Cup Champions.
