Trades don’t happen too often during the NFL regular season and that is one reason why the Percy Harvin trade was so stunning, but the New York Jets receiver is happy to be out of a frustrating offense with the Seattle Seahawks

When the Seattle Seahawks traded wide receiver Percy Harvin to the New York Jets last week it caught many league observers and fans by surprise and the sixth round compensation was just as surprising as the defending Super Bowl champs giving up on the dynamic playmaker.

However, upon further reflection the decision by Pete Carroll and the Seattle front office to rid themselves of a player who did not fit in with the offensive scheme they were running, it made perfect sense to trade Harvin who was more of an afterthought than a prominent player in the scheme.

Harvin admitted he was frustrated in the way he was used in the Seattle offense where he caught a number of his passes at the line of scrimmage and was featured on screens and sweeps and couldn’t stretch the field vertically.

Harvin has the deep speed teams look for in a vertical threat who can take the proverbial top off the defense, but it never came to fruition in his time with Seattle. Coupled with his reported personality conflicts with former teammates like Golden Tate and Doug Baldwin and it made it an easy decision to part ways with the talented but troubled receiver.

If Harvin was frustrated in Seattle after winning a Super Bowl, I wonder how frustrating it will be on the receiving end of passes from Geno Smith for a team mired in last place in the AFC East?
