Chicago Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall shrugged off talk that he was angry at Jay Cutler, citing their strong relationship.

Brandon Marshall kept writers busy after Sunday’s loss to the Miami Dolphins with his locker room tirade in which he reportedly called out other members of the Chicago Bears offense. Many saw the outburst as a gesture aimed at quarterback Jay Cutler, but Marshall refuted any talk of such in his weekly appearance on Inside the NFL.

“I have a really nice condo. And guess what? Jay Cutler built that condo,” Marshall said via Pro Football Talk. “We’re great. We’re great. You know, we’re like brothers. I think Coach Trestman said it the best. But if I have a problem with Jay Cutler, I’m going to go to Jay Cutler. If Jay Cutler has a problem with me, he’s going to come to me. We have that type of relationship.”

Marshall’s candor is always to be commended. You never get the feeling he’s delivering some canned response when asked a silly question like, “Are you mad at Jay Cutler?” As if he’d tell us anyways.

Besides, Cutler and Marshall, while two of the NFL’s personality enigmas, have one of the seemingly best, most well-documented QB-WR relationships in the league. These two genuinely seem to like each other from their time in Denver and Chicago. It’s not hard to believe that this locker room rant was more a product of frustration at the team in general than it was some kind of personal attack by Marshall.
