Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant thinks running back DeMarco Murray can reach 2,000 yards.

More from Dallas Cowboys

Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray is off to a remarkable start this season, rushing for over 100 yards in each of the first seven games this season. That broke a record previously held by legendary running back Jim Brown. Through those seven games, Murray has rushed for 913 yards and is on pace to rush for 2,086 yards, which would give him the third best rushing season in NFL history behind Eric Dickerson’s 1984 season and Adrian Peterson’s 2012 season.

Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant once said he thought he could hit 2,000 yards receiving, and now he is backing Murray to reach that mile stone.

“I think he can do it,” Bryant said, via Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News. “I honestly think he can do it.”

Bryant added: “DeMarco’s been doing a tremendous job. He’s killing it. He makes things that much easier for us. And he’s going to continue to keep doing it, because we believe in him. He believes in himself.”

Murray would be the eighth player in NFL history to reach the milestone if he did, but he doesn’t like to discuss it.

“He never talks about [milestones],” Dez Bryant said Friday. “Never talks about it at all. But the other guys around him, we all notice it and think about it. That’s why we practice hard, so we can give him that opportunity to reach that. That’s a big deal.”

As a thank you for the previously mentioned record, Murray bought his offensive lineman some iMacs.
