One of the staple pay-per-views of the Road To WrestleMania in recent years has been the Elimination Chamber event. This pits multiple superstars against one another, wrestlers starting off in cages inside a bigger cage and being released at different intervals.
According to MetsFan4Ever, a Reddit user who has correctly predicted and revealed pro wrestling stories in the past, the WWE is giving that event the boot.
“Word going around backstage this past Tuesday at the SmackDown tapings are that the WWE Elimination Chamber pay-per-view will be no more,”MetsFan4Ever writes on Reddit.
Of course they can’t simply eliminate a WWE pay-per-view event, they’d simply rebrand it and he even has word on what the name for that is.
“The early lead names going around to replace the Elimination Chamber name will be either WWE Fast Lane or WWE Fast Track.”
A lot of WWE pay-per-view events have gimmicks as of late, like “Hell In A Cell” or “Tables, Ladders and Chairs.” So it is interesting to see what the suggested “fast” names could imply for the event.
Possibly a tournament with a series of beat-the-clock matches? That would seem odd coming off the Royal Rumble though, but could be used to set up a No. 1 Contenders tournament for a title match at WrestleMania perhaps, though obviously not the WWE Heavyweight title belt which the Royal Rumble winner gets to wrestle for.
