Teams have until Friday to extend players selected in the 2011 NBA Draft. However, very few players have actually inked extensions with

Cleveland Cavaliers

‘ point Kyrie Irving,

Denver Nuggets

‘ power forward Kenneth Faried,

Orlando Magic

center Nikola Vucevic and most recently,

Charlotte Hornets

‘ point guard Kemba Walker being among the few.

Another exciting young player eligible for an extension is Oklahoma City Thunder guard Reggie Jackson.Reggie Jackson has continued to develop since e was selected by the Thunder with the 24th-overall pick in the first round of the 2011 NBA Draft and the Thunder would obviously love to keep him long-term.

However, according to Darnell Mayberry of The Oklahoman, the Thunder and Reggie Jackson are unlikely to come to terms on an extension before Friday’s deadline.

"The clock continues to tick toward Friday’s deadline for the Thunder to come to terms on a contract extension for guard Reggie Jackson."

"But as the deadline nears, a deal appears unlikely to get done and talks will have to resume next summer when Jackson becomes a restricted free agent. The Thunder can match any offer Jackson might receive next summer, and Thunder general manager Sam Presti repeatedly has made it clear that the franchise intends to keep Jackson."

Reggie Jackson wound up starting during the playoffs last year and was excellent. However, they may not want to invest that much money in a player who plays the same position as one of their stars (Russell Westbrook). Of course, if the Thunder don’t show a commitment to keep talent around, it could hurt them with Kevin Durant in 2016.

Reggie Jackson averaged 13.1 points, 4.1 assists and 3.9 rebounds per game while shooting 44.0% from the field, 33.9% from three and 89.3% from the free throw line last season. In his career, he’s averaged 8.0 points, 2.7 assists and 2.7 rebounds per game while shooting 43.1% from the field, 29.2% from three and 87.7% from the free throw line.
