A woman recently created a J.J. Watt Halloween costume that went beyond the usual jersey-and-helmet fare, invoking the iconic images of a bloodied Watt from games past.

Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt will have plenty of NFL fans dressing in his likeness this Halloween, as he’s not just been the best defensive player in the league. He’s arguably been the best player in the league, period. Credit this fan for going above and beyond (as seen here) just like Watt always does on the field, when she re-created not just J.J Watt in uniform, but Watt bloodied and lathered as we saw him last season.

This costume harkens fans to a 2013 game when Watt famously played through a cut on his nose that required six stitches in the Texans’ OT loss to the Seattle Seahawks. He was so revved up when getting his nose examined that he looked ready to fold his trainer into a six inch sub roll and eat him for lunch. When asked how he got the cut last year, Watt said, “I hit people for a living.”

Watt’s warrior scowl has long been famous as one of the pictures that embodies the defensive end’s all-out approach to every snap. Kudos to this lady for capturing that much better than just about anyone else we’ve seen.

J.J. Watt currently has seven sacks in eight games with three touchdowns as well. Watt has returned an interception and a fumble return for a touchdown, as well as caught a touchdown pass. While DeMarco Murray and others have made their case for MVP at the season’s mid-point, for now at least it appears Watt is the frontrunner for the distinction. If he does win, he’d be the first defensive player named MVP since Lawrence Taylor in 1986.
