The WWE is over seas at the moment and chairman Vince McMahon made the trip as well. During at a taping for Smackdown in Liverpool, McMahon addressed the crowd and he didn’t necessarily have good things to say to the crowd.

In particular, McMahon wasn’t pleased with the enthusiasm or lack there of from the crowd.

“What’s the matter with you people? You’re sitting on your hands out here, you’re not having a good time, you’re not cheering, you’re not booing, and why? They cheered louder in Sheffield, they cheered louder in Manchester, they cheer louder all over the UK except here in Liverpool,” McMahon said, as transcribed by Cageside Seats. “The guy in the front row over here looking at Jericho (makes face). Guy next to him (makes face). ‘I’m from Liverpool. I’m from Liverpool too.’ Come on, what’s the matter with you? Have some fun here tonight, Liverpool. Liverpool; what kind of name is Liverpool? Liverpool sounds like an old man’s skin disease, doesn’t it? Liverpool, kind of like ebola, it just crawls up on ya. Come on and have some fun here tonight, damn it.”

Now this seems to be a work and not a genuine opinion. Of course we’ll have to wait to see when Smackdown airs to see if this is McMahon just being a heel and riling up the crowd, or if the pressure from the WWE Network not gaining as many subscribers as they need and want is finally getting to him. According to Wrestling Rumors it was during a commercial break.

McMahon injecting himself into the story lines was a big part of the success of the WWE in the 90s during the Monday Night Wars, so maybe he is about to get more involved and rekindle that magic.
