Brooke Shields: Andre Agassi Broke Every Trophy He Won After ‘Friends’ Scene
By Cory Buck
Actress Brooke Shields said that her then-boyfriend, tennis star Andre Agassi, broke every trophy he’d won after a ‘Friends’ scene in which Shields licked Matt LeBlanc’s finger.
In case his autobiography didn’t make it abundantly clear, Andre Agassi had a few issues throughout his tennis career that saw tremendous highs and Pete Sampras-induced lows. One of those lows involved his girlfriend at the time, actress Brooke Shields. She appeared on an episode of ‘Friends’ and licked Joey’s finger on a date, which prompted Agassi to leave the set, drive from Los Angeles to Las Vegas, and destroy his Wimbledon Cup as well as every tennis trophy he’d won to date.

“Upon arrival he systematically smashed and destroyed every single trophy he had won, including Wimbledon and the US Open, never mind all the others,” Shields told the Globe magazine in the US, per the Daily Mail in the UK.
You can find the scene in question at the link as well. Perhaps someone could have explained to Agassi how acting works, but he was probably too high on crystal meth at the time to have time for explanations. Who needs words when trophies must be smashed?
Naturally, the two love birds had to get married before they realized how incompatible they were together.
“I could not form a sentence,” Shields wrote. “I kept shaking my head as if I had duct tape across my mouth. It hit me all of a sudden – I knew I had made a mistake. I did not want to be married…I wanted to be a bride but I shouldn’t have been married yet.”
Of Agassi’s meth addiction, which he writes about it in his autobiography, Shields wrote, “I was shocked but immediately got hurt and insulted that he had not come to me at the time.”
