Former NBA player and current NBA TV analyst Chris Webber does a spot on impression of former player and coach Avery Johnson.

This could have been a big hit or a big miss. Thankfully in the world of former player and current NBA TV analyst Chris Webber, there is one impression he can do that is spot on.  Webber had a little fun with impersonating former player and coach Avery Johnson on Tuesday night.

Webber not only was spot on but he flat out nailed it.  Of course he had a little bit of an advantage.  He used to play with him, so he knows him well.  Host Ernie Johnson tried to impersonate Shaquille O’Neal and it was ok but it was no Avery Johnson, that much was for sure.

This is why the folks at TNT and NBA TV are more fun to watch than ESPN.  They aren’t stiff.  They like to have fun with things like this.  Avery Johnson is one of the more interesting characters of the NBA of our time.  He played for 16 years and then was a coach from the time he retired in 2004 up until two years ago in 2012.

Webber may not be your cup of tea and he isn’t always mine either but when he can provide entertainment like that I’m all eyes and ears.  It certainly adds color to a show that could just regurgitate statistics and highlights all night.  They do that as well to keep you informed but nothing beats an Avery Johnson impression on a Tuesday night in the NBA.
