Niagara Basketball Team Stranded 30 Hours In Snow Storm
By Cory Buck
The Niagara University women’s basketball team was stranded for 30 hours in the snowstorm that smashed Western New York with over 60 inches of snow.
As a snow storm continues to pelt Western and Upstate New York with nearly unprecedented amounts of snow, the stories keep pouring in of stranded citizens and athletes making the most of their situations. The latest such story is that of the Niagara University women’s basketball team, who spent nearly 30 hours on the team bus after getting stuck on the roads on a return trip from their game at Pittsburgh University.

The team is hardly alone in all this. Citizens have been holed up in hospitals, grocery stores, banks, and wherever else they happened to be when the wall of lake effect snow hit Buffalo and Upstate New York. Even the New York State Thruway has been shut down since early Tuesday morning.
The team is safe and sound now as a plow reached them on the highway, where state troopers were able to guide the bus back home. The same can’t be said for everyone in Buffalo as police have reported at least five casualties in the storm.
If you are in the storm, please people, stay home and stay warm. Don’t be a hero at the office and try to brave it. There’s always tomorrow and a used sick day is always worth it when compared to hours spent in a freezing car.
