Utah Utes Go With Unusual Offerings On Sidelines

The Utah Utes may have lost their NCAA football game to the Arizona Wildcats on Saturday but at least they kept warm on the inside

How do you usually see football players keeping warm on the sidelines during a game?  Bench heaters?  Jackets?  Wool hats?  Yes, yes, and yes.  How about hot chocolate and chicken broth?

That’s right, the Utah Utes on Saturday did just that.  Per sbnation.com, the Utes had hot chocolate and chicken broth to keep the players warm on the sidelines during a cold, wet Saturday afternoon in Salt Lake City.  I say genius.

Unfortunately for the Utes, it didn’t help them win their football game.  They took one on the chin Saturday afternoon in a 42-10 loss to the Arizona Wildcats.  The Utes dropped to 7-4 on the season and out of the Pac-12 South Championship running.  The win kept the 9-2 Wildcats chances alive for at least one more week.

Reaction from fans say it was a bad choice.  I can’t say I blame them.

Arizona had to be happy that this game was played during the day and not at night.  It was cold and wet as it was.  At time the rain was pouring down.  It was in the 30’s in Salt Lake City on Saturday afternoon.  Still, the Utes felt like they needed some kind of advantage in the weather.  Maybe next time they can try s’mores and coffee?
