Mickey Rourke Beats Boxer Half His Age By Maybe Fighting Dirty
By Josh Hill
Mickey Rourke has revived his boxing career and he ended up beating a fighter half his age — by maybe fighting dirty.
Actor Mickey Rourke had a pretty great career in Hollywood going in the 1980s, but he gave it up in the early 90s to become a boxer. The heartthrob has since changed his face, become a little crazy, been nominated for a Best Actor Oscar and is once again back in the ring. However, unlike the first time around, Rourke is in his 60s.

That didn’t stop Rourke from winning his bout against a 29-year old boxer. Of course, the easy headline is that Rourke beat a guy half his age but there’s more to the story than that. For starters, the guy he was fighting is a career 1-9 and in addition to that might have received some illegal blows during the match.
As pointed out by the Associated Press, it appeared that a few of Rourke’s blows he landed were not of the legal variety.
"Several of Rourke’s punches appeared illegal. His final punch struck the stumbling Seymour on the buttocks and the 29-year-old went down to all fours until the referee stopped the contest. The Russian crowd chanted “Misha,” a short form of the Russian name Mikhail, in Rourke’s honor."
That’s such a Mickey Rourke way of winning though, and it’s sounds like this was some sort of underground Russian brawl which makes it feel even shadier. Proof of this is the fact that rock singer Grigory Leps — who is not allowed into the United States over possible mafia connections — performed at the fight.
Still, a win is a win for Rourke and he’s clearly going to get it anyway he can.
