The Seattle Seahawks and Richard Sherman dimmed the San Francisco 49ers playoff hopes on Thanksgiving and Sherman couldn’t resist taking that extra shot.

There’s something about playing the San Francisco 49ers that seems to bring out the best, and loudest, in  Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman. The Thanksgiving day win over the 49ers was no exception. Sherman had plenty to say after a game where he had two interceptions and a third near-miss.

"“There was a guy, an opponent, who said that he was throwing to the open man. He didn’t care who was out there,” Sherman said. “I was the open man.”"

The quote comes via a story from Bleacher Report and references comments 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick made before the game that he intended to throw to whoever was open, in response to whether he would avoid Sherman’s side of the field. Before the final interception of the game, Sherman was reportedly talking to the 49ers sideline, telling them if the ball was thrown his way, he would end the game. It was and it did.

Kaepernick didn’t have a good day, he was 16 for 29 for 121 yards with two interceptions and no touchdowns. Sherman’s other usual target for vitriol, receiver Michael Crabtree, only had 10 yards in three completions. Sherman never mentioned Crabtree by name, but took a shot anyway by namedropping the 49ers other receivers as good receivers, just noticeably leaving out one.

Sherman didn’t stop there, he even had words for the 49ers fans.

"“Somebody threw a glass bottle at the end,” Sherman said, per ESPN. “Every time we came through the tunnel, there were a lot of vulgar things being said. Sometimes you should let sleeping dogs lie. It makes you appreciate your own fans and how they stay for the whole game regardless of the outcome.”"

The Seahawks now sit at at 8-4, second in the NFC West, and look forward to a road showdown with the Philadelphia Eagles next Sunday.
