The Wolverines jumped out to a 14-7 lead in the second quarter, before Ohio State scored the equalizer to send us into halftime all tied up at fourteen points a piece. Unfortunately for the Wolverines, they seemed to run out of gas in the second half as the Buckeyes ran away with the win.
When the final whistle sounded, the Buckeyes were able to light up the scoreboard when it mattered most on their way to a 42-28 win.
For Ohio State, the win showed the team’s ability to overcome adversity and a slow start.
Perhaps nothing was more important for Ohio State than being able to rally when starting quarterback J.T. Barrett went down with what appeared to be a serious leg injury. (Video here)
Barrett was loaded onto the cart and taken off the field in an air cast.
After Barrett left the game, the Buckeyes were able to rally and put the game away. The exclamation point for Ohio State came with just under four minutes to go, when Joey Bosa sacked Devin Gardner and forced a fumble that Ohio State took to the house to extend their lead to 42-21.
Michigan added a late score thanks to an impressive grab by Freddy Canteen, but it was too little, too late.
It was a disappointing end to the game for Michigan, who will have to determine whether they are willing to go into next season with Brady Hoke running the show.
