Houston Texans star defensive player J.J. Watt laughed at a Tennessee Titans player who was trying to block him in last week’s NFL action.

The Houston Texans have been blessed with the gift of having J.J. Watt on their defense, and he has made himself a legitimate MVP candidate this season. Whether he is beating opponents with his pass rushing or touchdown receiving, he is making a different on the field, and is nearly impossible for any opposing offensive lineman to deal with.

Watt was caught laughing at a Tennessee Titans’ offensive lineman that was trying to block him in their game last week. He was mic’d up, and it was pretty obvious that he didn’t view his opponent as worthy competition.

From Pro Football Talk:

"“That guy’s having a rough day,” Watt told a teammate at one point in the game. “Whoever the heck that guy is.” “Are you kidding me? I’m beating these guys like a drum out here,” Watt said. “Are you gonna hold me all day,” Watt wondered, “or just part of it?” When talking to his teammates, Watt mocked Svitek. “This guy can’t even touch me. He’s stumbling over his own feet,” Watt said. “He ain’t blocked me once. I’m telling you right now, this guy ain’t blocking me.”"

Through his first 12 regular season games this year with the Texans, Watt has compiled 54 total tackles, 11.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, eight defensed passes, an interception, and a defensive touchdown.

Obviously those numbers are very impressive and prove why Watt is a legitimate MVP candidate at this point in the season. He has some stiff competition from Green Bay Packers’ quarterback Aaron Rodgers, but his receiving touchdowns might very well put him over the top. Either way, he is putting up a season that many will remember as one of the best from a defensive player.

Houston isn’t looking like a good bet to make the playoffs which will hurt his MVP chances, but he has done everything in his power to bring his team wins. All of that being said, he still has plenty of time to improve his numbers and make an even more serious run at the MVP.
