The Kansas Jayhawks have found their new head coach in David Beaty who had been at Texas A&M as the wide receivers coach and recruiting coordinator for the last three seasons

David Beaty will be the new head coach at Kansas where he previously served as wide receivers coach from 2008-2009 and offensive coordinator in 2011 and looks to end a period of futility in Lawrence, KS that has won a total of 12 games over the last five seasons and has one Big 12 conference win in the last three years and a total of three in that same five year period of futility.

Beaty was responsible for developing Mike Evans into a player who redshirted his freshman season into one of the more dominant receivers in college football from 2012-2013 and into a top-10 pick and one of the NFL’s top rookies this year.

As a recruiter he helped the Aggies bring in three straight top-15 classes and the signing of No. 2 recruit Myles Garrett who set the SEC freshman sack record this year. His ties to Texas and Kansas will be vital in the rebuilding effort at Kansas where he will have to scoop up some top junior college talent to supplement the roster while also building for the future.

Kansas is a tough place to win as history suggests and may be one of the worst Power 5 jobs in the nation, so Beaty will have his work cut out for him as a first-time head coach. However, it is only seven years removed from a win in the Orange Bowl, so can Beaty take the team back to those heights?

Time will tell, but he should bring an exciting brand of offense once he gets his players on campus.
