Detroit Pistons center Andre Drummond took a photo of the road ahead of him and shared it on SnapChat and was blissfully unaware that he was outing himself for driving at a ridiculous and unsafe rate of speed. The photo showed his speedometer reading around 97 MPH, more than any speed limit in the United States.

Before Sunday’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy called the picture “scary as hell.”

“I know you’re young and you think you’re indestructible, but for the people that care about you, it’s scary as hell,” Van Gundy said, via the Detroit Free Press.

“I don’t want to wake up and read about Andre Drummond in an accident. That’s the issue to me.”

Drummond admitted the photo was authentic and him adding: “It was a silly mistake. I’ll own up to it and move on from here. It won’t happen again.”

When asked about why he was driving so fast, Drummond reiterated his previous comments: “Silly mistake on my behalf; it won’t happen again.”

Let’s hope it doesn’t happen again, not only for the sake of Drummond’s safety but his fellow Michigan residents on the road.
