If we all had a dollar for the number of times Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao were supposed fight, we’d all be as rich as they are. But the decline in Pacquiao’s fighting and the more pristine Maweather’s fighting record becomes — and the fact that they’re simply getting on in age — means a fight likely won’t be happening anytime soon.
Rapper 50 Cent had some opinions about the possible fight but it’s not a positive outlook at all. The rapper spoke about a possible Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather fight but talked about it like something we will never see.
This isn’t a new opinion, nor is it inside information by any means. But the fact that 50 Cent, who is more connected than most to Mayweather and boxing, doesn’t believe that the bout will happen is more than just discouraging.
It’s a fight we’ve all been dying to see for years, but with both boxers past the peak of their prime — specifically Pacquiao. Mayweather is still in the near-prime of his fighting career but both boxers have lost a few steps since the last time this fight was a real possibility.
50 Cent is right, Pacquiao and Mayweather fighting isn’t something that needs to happen and probably won’t happen. They’re not the fighters they once were and they have more to lose now than they did the first time they danced around making this fight happen.
