The Toronto Raptors had their second “Drake Night” last night, and it included free shirts and the Canadian rapper introducing the team. He also stopped by the broadcast team to put on the cans and chime in on-air.
They brought up the topic of his fine for making comments about Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant potentially joining the Toronto Raptors in free agency.
Since Drake is a member of the Raptors organization as an “ambassador,” that goes against league rules. So Drake addresses this and says he talked to the commissioner about it and he got the message loud and clear. To conclude he said “Sterling, that’s my guy.”

Presumably he meant to say Silver, but instead said Sterling, which would make you think he got confused with former Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling who was ousted from the league after being recorded making racist and derogatory remarks.
Silver had to deal with Sterling and the ensuing ordeal and standoff this past spring and summer, so there is some kind of name connection there. Still, it is a pretty embarrassing mistake.
